To Live Is Christ!

From The Heart of Pastor Shane (August 19, 2019)

The Book of Philippians deals with the way we as believers should be living.  When the apostle Paul wrote this letter, he was imprisoned in Rome.  It appears that the church at Philippi was close to Paul compared to any other church.  We clearly see that God uses the Philippians to show His love just as Paul showed his love for them.

In Philippians 1:21 the Bible says:  “To live is Christ and to die is gain.”  In essence Paul was saying “if he lived that it would be for Christ and if he died, He would be in the presence of Jesus which would be a gain.  We must all come to the conclusion that life on planet earth is temporary.  One day those of us who have placed our faith in Jesus will see Him face-to-face and we will receive a glorified body.  We should be just like Christ…so to die is gain.

There are many believers who believe that trusting Christ will end their current battles in this life.  To be honest, this is the beginning of many battles.  So for now, the question still remains: “How does Christ want me to live?”  We need to follow Jesus every way we possible can in worship, praise, prayer, obedience.  Jesus should be in total control and the center of each of our lives.  We must strive to be Christ like.  Amen!
