Murmuring!

From The Heart of Pastor Shane (May 16, 2019)

In the Old Testament we continuously see the children of Israel murmuring to Moses about God.  We repetitively read this in Exodus, Number, Deuteronomy, and Leviticus.  I hear people murmuring over things that really don’t mean anything.  To murmur means to complain with a spirit that is critical and negative.  It is usually a negative attitude focused either at something, or someone.

Most of the time murmuring comes from selfish desires and ambitions.  I have seen people murmur over things in which is a part of God’s plan and what is happening. Murmuring can cause us to forget that God is in ultimate control.  I find that many times when people murmur they jump to the wrong conclusions, therefore bringing bad judgment.

God’s cure for murmuring can be found in Philippians 4:8 where the Bible reads: “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things."  Amen!
