The Lord Is Our Battler!

From The Heart of Pastor Shane (January 30, 2019)

Today I am not talking about a physical military like the army...navy...etc. I am talking about a spiritual battle today where many Christians are defeated. Let me encourage you to take time to read Exodus 17:8-16 this week.

In Exodus 17:9 we read, " And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand." Here we see Moses praying while Joshua is fighting. When a Christian truly begins to pray, he moves to higher ground. We must have a strategic advantage over the enemy.

In verse 10 it goes on to say, "So Joshua did as Moses had said unto him, and fought with Amelek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill." As Christians we must understand that we cannot win in the valley unless we win from the hilltop. When we become weak in our prayer then our battle becomes weak. Our battles are won through prayer.

Verse 11 says, "let down his hand Amalek prevailed." This is important because when we don't pray we only give more strength to the enemy. When we pray, we see what God can do. Remember, in our battles, we must pray because the Lord is our battler. It is God who empowers us and that comes through our prayer. We see that verse 13 says, "So, Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword."

In this situation we clearly see that the Lord was the their battler and we can learn through this that the Lord is always our battler through the trials, storms, and battles of life. With God all battles can be won and defeated. AMEN!
