How Do You See God?

From The Heart of Pastor Shane (February 13, 2019)

How do you see God?  One of the most important parts of your life is how you see God.  I have talked to a lot of people in my years of ministry and people have many different gods out there.  Some people refer to God as “the man upstairs.”  Let me be very plain, God is not just some ordinary person or a man that is upstairs looking down at everybody here on earth.

In Matthew chapter 6, we see that Jesus started what is known as “The Lord’s Prayer,” by saying “Our Father.”  The God we serve wants to relate to you as a Father relates to a child.  I can tell without any hesitation, that the most important thing in this lifetime is to have a real relationship with the one and only real God.  There is absolutely no one like our God.  He is a Holy God and He should be seen and related differently than anything or anyone else.

If we are to relate to the real God that is Holy, then we too must be holy.  In 1 Peter 1:15-16 the disciples wrote: “But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.”  That means that in life we must remove any invisible barriers and see God for who He is, for who you are, and for who others are.

We serve a God that is so Holy that He sent Jesus Christ to die for our sin.  He raised Jesus from the dead to prove that through Him we can have a real relationship with a real God that will last for eternity.  Amen!
