Endurance!

From The Heart of Pastor Shane (January 28, 2019)

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 says: "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"

There are many invisible barriers that are bigger than us which seem to stand between us and being where God wants us to be.  In the Old Testament we read where God sent His people, Israel to the Promised Land, which was a great place to live, but it was occupied with goliaths that they would have to face and defeat.  In our own lives there are many goliaths that we have to face if we are where God wants us to be.

We must come to the conclusion that we will face spiritual warfare no matter where we go.  The Bible says when Goliath challenged Israel, Saul went and hid in his tent.  We aren’t called to go hide.  God has called us to pull down strong holds.  As we live for Jesus, we will pull down the strongholds of this world.

We are called to cast down imagination.  In others words we must conquer the imaginations of this world.  There are many goliaths that loom over us, but just as Israel did, we can bring them down if we let God fight our battles for us.  God has given us the weapons such as His Word, Prayer, and other Christian people.  What goliaths do you face right now in your life?  Do you find invisible barriers in your own heart that are coming between you and obeying God with your entire heart?  Remember to “look to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.”  Amen!
