Spiritual Warfare!

Study Devotional - Week of April 22, 2018

Text: 2 Corinthians 10:4

2 Corinthians 10:4 reads, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"

This warfare that the Bible describes is not physical. In essence, it is a warfare that we cannot see, but we know that it is going on. Friends, we are engaged in a spiritual warfare. There are some things for us to consider as we look at spiritual warfare.

I. OUR LEADER!

One of the greatest battles that is being waged right now is the battle for the souls of men and women. Praise be to God, that Jesus made a way for us to have redemption. Jesus died on the Cross for our sins.

Despite whatever is happening in our lives, we need to realize that King Jesus is the thte leader of our faith and every foe that we face, has already been conquered. The reality is, we do not live or serve on the defeated side because we on the side of victory simply because Christ is our leader.

II. OUR ARMY!

Not only is Christ our leaders, but the Bible says that the church is our army. The local church is suppose to be a victorious place. Many times people want to get caught up on petty things within the church, but we must be moving forward to do the work of God and not let the petty things get us off track.

The training ground for our defense is the local church. The church is suppose to be a place where we meet together to be strengthened and encouraged and trained for the spiritual warfare in which we are engaged.

III. OUR ENEMY!

The enemy is real. There is a real foe and he is called the devil. The Bible teaches that we are engaged in a spiritaul battle and that the devil is a real being. Ephesians 6:10-12 says, "10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places."

This is a real battle against the devil and his arsenal. These scriptures teach us that there is a spiritual wickedness in high places. Satan has conquered many, but we do not have to live a defeated life. Our enemy is the flesh and the devil. I have seen the flesh of people get in the way of God's work so many times throughout my years of ministry, and many people are blinded to the fact that they let their own flesh get in the way of God's will in the work of their lives and many times the church.

Many people have their own selfish agenda or opionion on how things ought to work. The truth be known, we had better be following after God's ways, not a man's way. May we reflect on the men of the Bible that battled the devil, but how they stood victoriously by putting on the full armour of God.

IV. OUR WEAPONS!

We are told to put on the whole armor of God. Ephesians 6:14-18 says that this armor includes: The "Belt of Truth"; "Breastplate of Righteousness"; "Shield of Faith"; "Hemet of Salvation"; "Shoes of the Gospel"; "The Sword of the Spirit." Most importantly, we need to put on the armor of PRAYER! Are you putting on the whole armor of God.

May our prayer be to take God's Word and God's promises, and stand against the devil and to help others in the evilness of this day.
