In James 4:2 the Bible says, “Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war…”  In other words the Bible is saying: “You desire and do not have, so you murder.  You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel…”  James is describing very clearly the sin of greed here.  He is speaking of a major problem many people have in this verse about craving and envying.  These are elements of greediness.  We live in a day and time where people are always wanting things they do not have.  James is saying, “Ye lust, and have not…”

Your neighbor pulls in with a new Mercedes, and it aggravates you that you cannot afford one. You look at someone who is wearing a Rolex, do you covet what they have?  Greed is when we crave what we do not have, and envy what we cannot have.  The Bible says that because of our greediness, covetousness and always wanting that which we do not have, we will “fight and war.”

The problem today is people are looking for pleasure in things other than than Lord Jesus.  Do you know the secrets of winning this war?  Realize that the only thing worth having is Jesus, and you don’t have to fight and war with anyone to have Him.  Amen!
