Rejection!

From The Heart of Pastor Shane (October 7, 2019)

Have you ever been frustrated with someone or angry with another person?  Perhaps someone has said or did something behind your back – and you knew they did it just to hurt or irritate you such as snubbed or shunned you.  Or perhaps, they didn’t even realize they were doing it.  Honestly, there is no other feeling like being rejected by people.  Rejection brings disappointment.  Friend, I can honestly relate to what it feels like to be rejected by people who you thought were your trusted friends.

However, as believers we are not classified by the rejection of others.  We are classified as children of God, born again to walk in newness of life with the spiritual blessings and acceptance of Jesus Christ.   Samuel was rejected and we can read about it in 1 Samuel 8:1-22.  God gives us some advice on how to deal with being rejected.   In Luke 6:27-28, 31 the Bible says: “But I tell you who hear me:  Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”  The worse thing we can do as Christians is respond negatively to those who mistreat us.  We must do good to them, bless them, pray for them.

Unfortunately, in this life we are all going to suffer disappointment through rejection and sometimes it is going to employed by those who we assumed were our close friends.  What you must remember is that as a child of the King, that rejection is a temporary bump in the road.  That bump can derail your walk with God or allow you to grow stronger in your faith and relationship with Jesus.  We may not be accepted by our peers, but we can always know that we are accepted by Jesus.  Amen!
