Persecution & Mistreatment!

From The Heart of Pastor Shane (July 24, 2019)

There are times when a Christian finds himself/herself in a cruel and unfair environment. This may attribute to the place you live, work, or typically go. How are we as Christians supposed to react to cruel and unfair persecution and mistreatment by others?

Everything we do needs to be done unto the Lord and not for others. Colossians 3:23 reads, “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people." I am here to tell you, people will let you down, but God never lets you down. Trust me, I know what it feels like to be let down and mistreated and that has happened a lot in my life lately, but I have assurance through my prayers and God's Word that He knows and will take care of the matters.

Perhaps God is trying to move you a new direction in your life. Sometimes when we do not listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, God may use a situation to get our attention. Perhaps God is calling us to examine a blind spot in our own individual lives and we need to rely on Him to understand it. Perhaps it is just God giving us an opportunity to display Who He is during our persecution.

Regardless of what your circumstances may be, dependence on God and the focus for His purpose is all that really matters. We need His strength during times of persecution and mistreatment. The Bible says, “vengeance is mine saith the Lord, I shall repay.”

Matthew 5:10-12 says, “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”
