The Necessity of Prayer!

From The Heart of Pastor Shane (August 20, 2019)

How is your prayer life? Over in the Bible, we read in James 5:17-18, "Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit." Many people have made comments to me that their prayers seem to go unanswered. James assures us in the Word of God that our prayers can accomplish mighty and miracoulous things.

James says that we have the same availability and kind of power that Elijah had when he prayed. The Bible says that "Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are." James uses Elijah as an example to encourage us in our own prayer life. Elijah was not perfect and had many flaws, he had no special talents, but prayed to God with power. We must realize that anyone who is a true believer has the ability to pray with the same power that Elijah did.

Our problem many times is that we give up too soon. Just like the Prophet Elijah, we must pray with passion and perstitence. As believers we must have a desire to pray more and get more out of our prayers. Let's pray like the Prophet Elihah and recognize the necessity of prayer in our own lives. Amen!
