Husbands are called to love their wives with the same love that Christ showed the church.  Jesus Christ sacrificed Himself for the church because of His love for it.  In Ephesians 5:25 the Bible says: “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;”

In marriage we must understand that marriage is a covenant with God to be the husband or wife He desires for us to be.  When you take vows before God, not only are you making a commitment to each other and sealing it in a permanent covenant, you are also making a commitment to God.  The Bible teaches that “what God has joined together, let no man put asunder.”  Are you faithful to the mate that God has given to you?

The words of Paul were simple, “to love their wives.”  The truth be known, both husbands and wives should submit to each other (Ephesians 5:21).  God is committed to us and will never leave or forsake us and in a marriage relationship where we have vowed to God and made a covenant, we should never leave nor forsake our spouse.  Amen!
