In the opening verses of the book of James, he has expressed the desire from God for all of us as believers that we might be complete and mature and that we are to lack nothing, that we need to live a full and fruitful Christian life.

Then in verses 5-8 the Bible talks about a shortage of wisdom.  In James 1:5-8 the Bible says:  "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.  6But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.  7For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.  8A double minded man is unstable in all his ways." 

James is talking about the trials we encounter in this life and when we don’t know which direction to go.  This is when we lack wisdom.  What we must realize is that life creates a demand for wisdom which God supplies wisdom to those who ask in faith.  Amen!
