Discernment!

From The Heart of Pastor Shane (February 19, 2019)

[Pastor's Note: Pastor Shane recommends reading Joshua Chapter 9]

In Joshua chapter 9 we read where Joshua confronts the southern kings.  What we learn in this message is that every open door doesn’t have Gods hand on the handle and is not the will of God.  A lot of times we presume that if the name of God comes up then it is definitely a green light.  Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who call upon the name of God while having other plans.  Just because God’s name is being brought up is no guarantee.

Joshua asks the hard question, Who are you and where did you come from?  Sometimes we need to seek and ask the Many times we allow our attention to getting diverted and really fail at asking the difficult questions that we should get the sufficient answer.  It is very easy to get off task when people are throwing compliments at you.  One of the things that we should always do when attempting to discern the will of God is talking to God about it.  Most of the time this becomes our biggest mistake because we either don’t take time to pray about it.  We must talk to God about our situations.

Here we see that Joshua knew enough before leading his troops into the battle.  By failing to seek God’s direction and rushing ahead with our own plans, we end up dealing with consequences that we cannot magically erase.  Just remember just because it’s a good deal doesn’t mean that it’s God’s deal.  Amen!

Proverbs 3:5-6: "5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; And lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths."
