Being Devoted in 2019

From The Heart of Pastor Shane (January 2, 2019)

King David said in Psalm 27:4, "One thing I have desired of the Lord." Paul says in Philippians 3:13 "This one thing do." Many times we try to compartmentalize our lives and this is not what God intends. Our Lord intends that we all be devoted to what God has asked us to do.

We need to take some of the commitments we have and get rid of them and be more committed to the Lord. For example, it's McDonald's every Monday, Tee-Ball Tuesday, Work out on Wednesday, Tae-Bo Thursday, Fishing Friday, Yard-selling Saturday...No wonder we're sleeping on Sunday. We need to learn to be less devoted to to our desires and more devoted to what God expects and desires.

When we are attending church in spurts we are going backward in our spiritual life and most of the time we do not even realize it. Anything we should be doing for God should be done with full devotion and not a little here and there. That goes for praying, reading the Bible, and giving to the Lord's work.

It's a new year in 2017 and may we pledge to focus on the main goal to do more in 2017. May the Lord Jesus be the center of all that we do. Amen!
