If you were to die today, do you know for sure that you have eternal life?  If not, I want to share in today’s devotional how we can have assurance from God on how to have eternal life.  In John 3:16 the Bible says: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”  From this verse we must understand that the God Who created us, loves us so much that He desires for us to have eternal life.

John 10:10 teaches that “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”  Jesus wants us to have life and have it to the fullest.  Are you living your life to the fullest?

What we must realize in life is that sin separates us from God and that everyone on this planet has sinned (Romans 3:23) and that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).  We know from God’s Word that while we were yet sinners that Christ died for us on a cross (Romans 5:8).  When Christ died for us on the cross, His death paid the penalty of our sin.  That is why the only reason Eternal life can be found through Jesus.

To have eternal life we must receive Jesus Christ (John 1:12).  Are you willing to receive Christ into your life?  Ephesians 2:8-9 teaches: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God not by works, so that no one can boast.” 

Read 1 John 5:11-13.  This passage gives us the assurance of eternal life.  Let me close the devotional by asking again, If you died today, are you sure you have eternal life?  I can honestly say that I have eternal life because I have Christ.  Amen!
